Back in 1972, Porsche Design Studio designed, developed and manufactured the Chrono 1 Watch. It’s the first chronograph that was entirely black and has become legendary in its own right. Back then though, the process of powdercoating and anodizing a watch wasn’t flawless. Though the finish was stylish, this method wasn’t the greatest for high wear areas such as the clasp or bezel surrounds. As technology progressed, so did the method used to black-out watches.
